ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM

As a Technician Field Ops, you will ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of IT services and equipment for internal SITA users. This role is critical to upholding SITAs service standards, resolving technical issues swiftly, and contributing to continuous service improvement. You will act as both a hands-on support specialist and a trusted technical advisor for our internal teams, ensuring field operations are efficient, reliable, and aligned with company procedures.

You’ll be part of the Field Operations team, working at the country level with a strong focus on internal IT services and user support. While the wider team may serve airline and airport clients, your primary customers will be internal SITA users. You’ll collaborate closely with service desks, resolver groups, and technical leads to support a shared goal: excellent service quality and maximum operational uptime.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide on-site field support to internal customers based on service desk requests and within defined SLAs.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of IT equipment (PCs, laptops, LAN/WAN connections, peripherals).
  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) during on-site interventions, coordinating with internal resolver groups and ensuring continuous customer communication.
  • Conduct local repairs and manage faulty equipment return/replacement following contract and SLA requirements.
  • Maintain spare part inventory and ensure timely replenishment in line with spares policy.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities as per manufacturer specifications and schedules.
  • Support site surveys for new installations and contribute to infrastructure readiness under guidance.
  • Accurately complete AVMA Daily Diary and ensure service records are properly logged in the SITA Service Hub for all incidents and change orders.
  • Escalate unresolved or recurring issues via appropriate SITA channels.
  • Monitor and report on local workshop performance and collaborate with regional operations teams.
  • Conduct hardware/software tests and coordinate local user acceptance with internal customers and vendors.
  • Liaise with and manage local suppliers delivering services to SITA’s Field Operations, reporting performance to management.

Qualifications

ABOUT YOUR SKILLS

  • Minimum Diploma / Certificate level qualification in Computer Science Electronic Engineering or equivalent in country IT qualification.
  • CompTIA A+ certification required to comply with the global SITA standard.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in onsite support activities and repairs of PCs Printers and LAN WAN equipment.
  • Must have dealt directly with external customers delivering to SLAs.
  • Experience of working at Customer locations.

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Experience of working in the Airport / Airline industry preferred.
