Our Marketing and Loyalty team is the strategic force behind United’s industry-leading brand and experience, supporting revenue growth by turning customers into lifelong United flyers. Our marketing communications, market research and brand teams drive travelers’ familiarity and engagement with the United brand. Our product, design and service teams bring the signature United brand to life in our clubs and onboard our aircraft, ensuring a seamless, premier experience. And when customers choose United again and again, that’s because the loyalty team has been hard at work crafting an award-winning program. Our loyalty team manages United MileagePlus®, building travel and lifestyle partnerships that customers can engage with every day, and works with our Star Alliance partners to ensure United can take you anywhere you want to go.

Job overview and responsibilities


This position is responsible for the implementation of strategic and tactical initiatives to drive loyalty to United Airlines. The Principal - MileagePlus Premier Programs ensures that program offerings are competitive, innovative, consistent with overall corporate strategy, and compelling to members.

  • Develop elite program segmentation and define customer value proposition, including elite member benefits, qualification strategy, mileage accrual and program policies
  • Develop and execute elite member revenue generation promotions and recognition programs
  • Conduct competitive analysis to ensure that benefits are competitive and innovative
  • Effectively partnering with member marketing, communications, and Premier services teams to develop program communication and test initiatives
  • Execute the next generation elite program
  • Perform strategic and financial analyses on program benefits

NOTE: This position provides a hybrid work arrangement including approximately 50 of the time spent working onsite at our Chicago office location and 50 remotely.

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelors degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams
  • Strong analytical and forecast modeling capabilities
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in developing and coordinating marketing programs
  • Proactive and results oriented
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Masters degree
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in customer relationship management
  • Marketing analytics and promotion design, Airline pricing and inventory management
  • Proficiency in SQL and PowerBI

The base pay range for this role is $99,750.00 to $135,960.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
