Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines. Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.
Location Profile:
Located in South Gate, Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability.
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Met-Lab Technician performs lab tasks such as, preparing samples for testing, complete general testing, and prepare and complete paperwork such as control sheets, which define required testing methods based on industry specification. The tech will demonstrate the ability to follow internal technical process specifications and read blueprints.

- Accepts and reviews all incoming material purchased for the preparation of testing. This includes the review of the quantity, size, weight and surface requirements against the purchase order.
- Confirms that all material specifications to which the material was ordered appear to be on the testing envelope.
- Assigns internal identification codes.
- Prepares micro samples, spot micros, and takes photographs using polishing equipment, metallograph, mounting press, cutting machine and etching facilities.
- Prepare and etch metallurgical samples for examination by the Metallurgists.
- Prepare and etch Macro slices for examination.
- Complete general metallurgical testing and paperwork such as control sheets.
- Maintains laboratory equipment in a clean and organized manner.
- Maintains storage and control of all micros and test remnants.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education
- Associate degree in Engineering or other, equivalent technical field or minimum 2 years metallurgical laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
