Job Summary

The Head of Operations & Compliance is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations while ensuring strict adherence to national and international regulations. This dual-role position ensures both operational performance and regulatory compliance, supporting Swissport Morocco’s strategic goals in growth, efficiency, quality, and safety. The role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to foster a culture of compliance, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Operational Leadership
  • Oversee, monitor, and evaluate operational performance to ensure efficiency, productivity, and alignment with Swissport’s global standards.
  • Ensure resource optimization, including workforce and equipment, to meet operational demands.
  • Drive standardization and foster a KPI-driven culture to optimize efficiencies and control costs.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to build and maintain strong customer and partner relationships.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing operational teams.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s compliance program.
  • Ensure compliance with IATA, ICAO, EASA, ONDA, CAA, DGAC, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee internal and external audits (regulatory, airline, ISO, and customer).
  • Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Identify and assess compliance risks, recommending and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Act as the main point of contact with authorities, customers, and partners on compliance-related matters.
  • Supervise internal investigations in case of incidents or potential violations.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on compliance status and operational risks.
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the Safety Management System and Quality System in accordance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 27001, etc.).
  • Promote a safety-first culture across all operations.
  • Ensure prompt reporting and follow-up of all non-compliance or safety-related incidents.
  • Collaborate with the HR Training team to expand ISO and compliance training programs for staff.
Strategic Growth & Transformation
  • Drive efficiency and cost management initiatives through automation, process re-engineering, and performance improvement projects.
  • Support Swissport’s transformation and digitalization initiatives.
  • Ensure operational excellence is aligned with regulatory integrity, reinforcing Swissport’s reputation and long-term growth.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Operational Metrics: OTP, workforce utilization, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Growth Metrics: Revenue growth, cost savings, and successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Quality, Compliance & Safety Metrics: Compliance with ISO standards, safety incident rates, and customer satisfaction scores. Audit results, regulatory adherence, incident/violation rates. ISO compliance, safety incident rates, customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in operational management and compliance management, ideally in the aviation industry.
    • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and leading transformation projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and operational performance tools.

Competencies & Skills

  • Meticulously organized, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Resilience under pressure and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
