Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support aircraft maintenance operations at RAF Valley.
This is an excellent opportunity for an aviation professional to take on a leadership role within a fast-paced, safety-critical military aviation environment. The successful candidate will supervise aircraft maintenance activities, ensuring high standards of safety, airworthiness, reliability, and operational performance are maintained at all times.
The role will involve providing technical leadership, overseeing maintenance delivery, and supporting the ongoing development and competency of the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise aircraft maintenance activities within a regulated aviation environment
Review operational performance of aircraft systems and components
Analyse and diagnose faults across aircraft and associated systems
Support repairs, modifications, and maintenance improvements using technical expertise
Ensure maintenance schedules and operational targets are achieved
Resolve maintenance issues and escalate where required
Maintain personal and team competencies for aircraft and component maintenance activities
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with regulatory and company procedures
Promote high standards of workmanship, safety, and compliance
Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach to operational requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Previous supervisory or leadership experience within an aircraft maintenance environment
Fully qualified technician with relevant maintenance authorities and certifications
Strong aircraft maintenance and fault diagnostic capability
Broad aviation maintenance experience supported by current and recent logbook evidence
Strong understanding of aviation safety standards and safe systems of work
Ability to work effectively within a safety-critical operational environment
Strong communication and team leadership skills
Eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS and SC Security Clearance
Qualifications
Completion of a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or military equivalent
City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance, or equivalent qualification
Strong technical background supported by structured training and practical experience
