Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking an Airfield Manager to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.
PURPOSE / SCOPE
The Airfield Manager is responsible for safe and functional airfield operations 24/7, including coordination with ATC, aircraft operations, and safety programs to ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Daily management of Diego Garcia airfield operations and ensure operations comply with all Federal, Host Nation and British Indian Ocean Territory (B.I.O.T.) laws and regulations, instructions, directives, manuals, bulletins, guides, etc. so that airfield operations are safe and functional 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year according to PWS references.
- Advise the Government Air Operations Officer when to open or close the airfield to air traffic based on facility, personnel, or equipment capabilities. When an un-safe condition exists, the AFM shall immediately ensure the discrepancy is corrected or close the Airfield Facilities airfield to air traffic until the airfield is reassessed.

The Airfield Manager will be available within 30 minutes to meet with Government personnel and / or Program leadership as required 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in preferably in Business Administration/Management or Engineering, based on a fouryear course of study from a United States (U.S.) or United Kingdom (U.K.) accredited college or university or equivalent institution
- Knowledge shall include but is not limited to Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization Programs (NATOPS), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Civil Air Organization (ICAO) and other applicable laws, Navy regulations, instructions, and directives as they pertain to airfield standards, aircraft operations, and airfield management; airfield security regulations, safety requirements and practices/procedures to ensure all construction, repairs, and operations on the airfield are performed in a safe and secure environment.
- Ten (10) years of experience in a position of overall management responsibility for an airfield similar to or greater than Diego Garcia airfield operations along with experience working simultaneously in a multi-function base operations environment.
- Experience in a management or supervisory capacity in a remote location similar to Diego Garcia with a multi-national work force is highly desirable.
- Experiential knowledge shall include but is not limited to operations, practices, and policies of Navy airfield management and supervision to plan, execute and oversee the Airfield Management Division; managing Navy airfield or equivalent airfield operations involving air operations with limited to moderate complexity 0501050 – Airfield Facilities Spec Item Title Description resulting from multiple runways/helipads, different aircraft types, and/or varying supported command support requirements
Ability to speak and read English fluently so that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with Annex requirements including but not limited to printed regulations, operating procedures, equipment manuals, training instructions and materials and
any other documents required in the performance of an Airfield Manager.
- Three years’ experience in supervising and managing all aspects of Airfield Operations and staff in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a passport and drivers license throughout employment in this role
- Ability to successfully pass PACOM medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment
- Ability to obtain and maintain Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
