Summary:
Apply advanced skills to contribute to the development of techniques and employee capabilities; completes work in innovative and effective ways.
Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, including varied drilling and riveting operations; ensure parts and assemblies meet specifications.
Interpret complex schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical instructions to perform safe and accurate layout, fabrication, and installation of parts or equipment.
Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure all paperwork and quality standards are met.
Adapt quickly to new tasks with minimal disruption to established schedules and goal hours.
Use all necessary tools (e.g., portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, rivet shavers, reamers) for riveting structural assemblies and removing fasteners without damage.
Follow work orders, blueprints, lofts, and operation sheets to determine sequencing, rivet size/type, hole patterns, and use of adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
Verify that all completed work is defect-free prior to final inspection.
Mentor and train team members; assist in blueprint interpretation and develop shop aids or processes to address installation issues.
Maintain accurate logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).
Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, and fasteners.
Perform repairs per DMTs, MRRs, and PCOs; complete necessary rework to ensure conformity.
Plan workloads, assess materials and documentation needs, and help lead assigned projects to meet or exceed schedule expectations.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with 5S and Lean principles.
Support Lean activities and comply with all safety and housekeeping policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
6 years of related structural assembly experience
Experience with Solumina and SmarTeam preferred
Q-Stamp preferred
Proficient with computers and related software.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
Skilled in close-tolerance work; proficient with specialized tools and equipment.
Capable of solving dimensional problems using fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.
Experienced in using multiple precision measuring tools within specified tolerances.
Must be able to work any shift.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to climb ladders, stairs, stands, and work in confined or restricted areas.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
