PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Aircraft Mechanic II inspects, repairs, replaces, and rebuilds components including flight controls, plumbing and hydraulic units, aircraft structures, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, engines, drivetrain, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

  • Reads and interprets manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

  • Performs scheduled, unscheduled, phase, periodic, and other special inspections. 

  • Remove and install components such as engines, transmissions and gearboxes, fuel cells and systems, hydraulic components, and drivetrain components from an aircraft.

  • Disassemble, clean, and inspect parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects according to technical manuals. 

  • Repair or replace defective parts and reassemble and install components in an aircraft.

  • Job duties may require that the mechanic perform preflight and post-flight maintenance inspections and other miscellaneous duties to service aircraft. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no Direct reports but will be required to assist the team lead.

  • Assist Mech III with work loading the team as well as tracking attendance as required.

  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

Job Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

  • Ability to solve complex problems using approved technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers manuals.

  • The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components.

  • Have a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair, and knowledge of aircraft electrical systems. 

  • A detailed knowledge of unique aircraft tools and precision tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, and protractors is required.

  • They must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must have a minimum of Five (5) years Aviation Maintenance Experience

  • Must have experience with Army aviation maintenance forms and records.

  • Must Have experience with ACN.
