Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SIWS) is seeking a Production Engineering Manager in support of a team of Liaison Engineers in El Segundo, CA.

This manager will lead the production engineering team, focusing on liaison engineering to ensure seamless communication and collaboration between design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams. This role is critical in optimizing production processes, improving product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Production Engineering

  • Oversee a group of Production Engineering Mechanical Liaison Engineers in the Assembly Integration and Test (AI&T) factory

  • Allocate resources accordingly based on program needs to ensure optimal performance

  • Participate in Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) boards and possess strong technical problem-solving skills to ensure corrective actions are preventive, robust, and well documented

  • Ensure the Mechanical Liaison Engineer (MLE) are launch campaign ready to assist in preparing for spacecraft vehicle launches while maintaining support for home site factory operations

  • Ensure the Mechanical Liaison Engineer (MLE) team is up to date with their training and assist in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Ensure the Mechanical Liaison Engineer (MLE) team is up to date with their training and assist in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Ensure the Mechanical Liaison Engineer (MLE) team has no gaps in their skills matrix; develop and implement plans to address any skills deficiencies within the team

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals

  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes

  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees

  • The ideal candidate will excel in both the engineering technical acumen/excellence required for this role while being an engaging and motivating people leader, including committing to:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners

  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline

  • Previous management experience

  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust

  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes

  • Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams

  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance

  • Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members

  • Can gain trust of team and provide guidance for their careers

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as spanet and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $138,550 - $187,450
