Job Summary
The Conformity/Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) specialist is responsible for evaluating and approving the design, production, and airworthiness of aviation products and parts. The Conformity/ DAR specialist ensures compliance with all FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 21, and is authorized to issue approvals for type certificates, supplemental type certificates, and airworthiness certificates for aircraft, engines, propellers, and other related products.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Issues airworthiness certificates for parts and components upon successful inspection and verification of conformity with approved designs.
- Review technical data and recommends approval or disapproval of articles based on compliance with approved designs and regulations.
- Assesses the conformity of products and articles with applicable type certificates, specifications, and FAA standards.
- Conduct inspections of aviation products and manufacturing facilities to verify compliance with applicable applicant specifications
- Perform on-site assessments to verify that products and processes conform to FAA regulations.
- Perform audits and inspections of suppliers and contractors involved in manufacturing to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of inspections, approvals, and certifications.
- Prepare reports and submit findings to the FAA/ODA or other regulatory bodies as required.
- Keep detailed logs of all activities, including approvals of designs, products, and inspections.
- Work closely with manufacturers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide guidance on compliance with applicable regulations.
- Advise and assist manufacturers in understanding FAA regulations related to airworthiness and product certification.
- Collaborate with FAA officials for the review and approval of technical data and manufacturing procedures.
- Provides training to internal employees on FAA regulations and airworthiness requirements
- Ensures that employees involved in the production process are knowledgeable about the relevant safety and certification standards
Qualifications

- Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation manufacturing, with experience in airworthiness certification and FAA regulations.
- Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR), Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR) holding conformity/airworthiness certifications from the FAA.
- Leadership experience required; formal training strongly preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
- Extensive knowledge of FAA regulations, particularly 14 CFR Part 21 and related areas.
- Strong understanding of aviation product design, manufacturing processes, and airworthiness standards.
- Excellent inspection, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with manufacturers, FAA personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance
