Summary This position as Associate Engineer performs entry level professional assignments and follows established policies. This position requires some professional judgment and a limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. This position will be located in our New Hartford, NY facility. Essential Functions - Review secondary melt processing charts and records against internal standards.
- Identify and disposition non-conforming material based on internal standards.
- Ensure full material traceability by verifying all process sequence numbers and heat numbers are present and consistent on all charts and records.
- Check to make sure all charts conform to internal standards for processing.
- Print out the electronic chart associated with each record and establish a melt packet for review, record retention and storage.
- Perform calculations for material removal when necessary.
- Create non-conformance reports (IRRs) when required, answer any process Variances associated with the records, and consult with Operations and Process Engineers when necessary.
- Input process values into databases including Oracle and SAS.
- Create digital images (Photographs) of slices and customer material as requested by Engineers.
Additional Responsibilities - Maintain a tidy work area and always work safely.
Accomplishes all tasks as appropriate. Qualifications Education and Experience A minimum of a two year degree in Engineering/Science is desired. Applicable work experience in a laboratory, or Quality Assurance role is accepted in lieu of a degree. Special Skills Must be detail oriented and thorough in review of process records. Must be able to work independently. Good communication skills. Flexible under changing priorities. Ability to use and interface with computers and develop ability to use specialized software to analyze process data.
