KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
- Installation & Inspection: Install, inspect, and test avionics equipment (radar, radio, navigation, autopilot, compass, etc.), ensuring accuracy of assembly and identifying defects such as loose connections or frayed wiring.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct functional tests under simulated and actual operating conditions using oscilloscopes, digital meters, counters, and circuit analyzers to confirm performance and airworthiness.
- Repairs & Adjustments: Diagnose issues, adjust frequencies, and repair or replace defective components following blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Perform Pitot-Static and Transponder inspections in accordance with FAA requirements; maintain current FAA authorizations and licensing.
- Flight & Ground Support: Support flight crews with in-flight adjustments and post-flight assessments; operate ground stations for radar and radio checks.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of avionics inventory, log entries, equipment status, and tool calibration; sign aircraft logbooks for all completed work.
- Safety Practices: Maintain a safe working environment by following safety procedures and protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaboration: Partner with the purchasing department to source quality parts at the best value; work cooperatively with hangar staff to support operational efficiency.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Current Airframe and Powerplant license and related experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Potential hazards associated with working around aircraft, electricity, pressurized air, hydraulic systems, use of hand and power tools, solvents, lubricants, and other combustible substances (aircraft fuel).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- A true interest in humanitarian work and the Wings of Hope mission
- Ability to transport and operate heavy tools and equipment
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures both indoors and outdoors
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and organization volunteer groups
COMPENSATION
The Avionics Technician is a full-time (40/hrs./week), hourly position reporting to the President. Employee benefits including health, dental, and vision available. A generous vacation and time off policy is also offered. The hourly pay rate is $30.00.
